Return to Children

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 with Miss Clifford, Mrs Wood, Ms Gallagher and Mrs Mills. We have got off to an exciting start this year already and the children are keen to be role models for the younger children. In terms of the curriculum, we will be focusing particularly on building confidence in maths and developing a growth mindset. It is scientifically proven that mistakes make our brains grow so we will learn to celebrate our mistakes and learn from them! In addition, we are encouraging the children to read for pleasure at least 5 times a week. This in turn will greatly enrich their vocabulary and develop their comprehension skills. Year 6 demands greater personal responsibility and we aim to develop the children’s independence in all aspects of the school day – sports kit, homework and time-keeping for example.   We are looking forward to teaching them over the year!

These are the children’s recent DT work creating shelters based on their historical research of Anderson and Morrison shelters.
